I’m a huge fan of Paranormal Romance and I’m a huge fan of R. Scarlett and her Blackest Gold series. There’s just nothing like them in the book world right now. I can’t get enough of Molly and Tensley (I can never get enough of Tensley) and I’m thrilled that I got to interview R. Scarlett for the second time (!!!)
A little background on her books:
*Warning: 18+, Cliffhanger*
“Darkness isn’t all one shade, sweetheart.”
Three centuries ago, Molly Darling’s ancestors signed a contract in blood—daemon blood—to protect themselves from harm. On the eve she turns nineteen, Molly leaves for her birthday party against her parent’s wishes, sick of their warnings about her “betrothal to a demon.”
Except that she’s very much betrothed, and he’s very much a demon—one who’s only agreed to the nuptials to steal Molly’s ancient daemon powers. Brash, arrogant, and built like a Greek god, Tensley Knight keeps showing up to save Molly from otherworldly attacks, only to insult her a moment later.
As Molly learns more about the demon world, she realizes two things: that her family’s safety depends on a successful marriage, while any chance of freedom she’ll ever have calls for Tensley’s demise.
Yet sometimes Molly spots a tortured soul beyond those liquid grey eyes, and there’s no denying the way her skin tingles when Tensley touches it. In Vein of Love, safety requires sacrifice, foe becomes lover, and one must decide whether to kiss…or to kill.
Sequel to Vein of Love
Warning: 18+, cliffhanger.
Never trust a demon.
Never trust your heart.
And never trust the woman who holds it.
In Body of the Crime, a beast craved a beauty and oh, how she ravaged him.
EEK! Congrats on your second release, Body of the Crime!
Thank you gorgeous!
As you know, I absolutely LOVED this book! It took everything from the first book and raised it 10 notches. So, can you tell us a little bit about Body of the Crime? Without spoilers, of course, because no one likes those.
Body of the Crime is the second book after Vein of Love. It continues the budding relationship of Molly and Tensley are they figure out how to make their situation work. Unlike t
he first one, it’s a lot more about their relationship and growing together and individually.
Was your writing process any different with this book than with Vein of Love?
I wrote this book in two months, a lot faster than it took me to write Vein of Love. I found some amazing readers and bloggers, two in particular who read it twice (Marjorie and Stephanie) who were graciously willing to read Body of the Crime in it’s draft phases and that helped immensely in transforming the book to ‘okay’ to ten times better. I owe these women so much! Having their insight and feedback was so hopefully!
What can you share about our main characters, Tensley and Molly? Sexual tension rating? (Also, Tensley is mine, so sorry not sorry)
Molly in the first book was young and inexperienced and too trusting of others, in this book we see her gain confidence in her abilities and that she’s activelyworking to make up for her past mistakes in the first book to gain Tensley’s trust back. So many readers have expressed to me how much they love Molly in this book. She’s grown up, she’s learned from her mistakes and she knows what she wants: Tensley Knight. She’s also on a warpath to find ree.
We also get to see more of Tensley’s world and society which I think readers will really enjoy and Tensley’s softer side, especially around his dolcezza. He’s feeling things for Molly he’s never experienced before and his beast, his demon side craves to mark her as his.
The sexual tension rating? Hm. An 8? An 9?
Who has been your favorite character to write?
Tensley. Definitely Tensley Knight. I love his snarky, I love his struggle, his cold façade, his mean side and his soft side. Especially, his ruthless side. 😉
What is Tensley’s Starbucks order? (The truly pressing question)
He refuses to go there, but his choice would be black coffee. Like his heart.
Can you sum up Body of the Crime in three words?
Hades and Persephone.
What are three books you recommend for people to check out? And what are three books on your TBR that you’re dying to get to?
Three books to check out: Fatal Harmony by Anne Malcolm, LJ Shen’s Vicious and Defy (love those hotholes!), and This is War, Baby by K Webster.
Three books I’m dying for: Crown of Lies by Pepper Winters, Breaking Gravity by Autumn Grey, and The Silver Swan by Amo Jones. I can’t wait to read all of them!
And lastly, what are you currently working on/can you tell us about your next release?
I’m currently working on the third book in the Blackest Gold series which will continue not long after the second book ended. I’m so excited to write it and share it in the pring with all my readers.
Thank you so much Sarah! <3
